The Trinity men's soccer team was coming off their first conference win against St. Ambrose this week, and now, the team was hoping to keep the momentum going as they prepared to take on the Calumet College of St. Joseph Crimson Wave. Following today's match, the Trolls were able to come out with a win over Calumet.
In the first half, the Trolls got a quick jump on the Crimson Wave. Sophomore Manasse Mbuyi was able to secure the early lead, getting the ball to the back of the net in the fourth minute of the game off a pass from senior Gabe Soler.
This led to the Trolls being up at the half, but it wasn't until the second half that Trinity would get another goal. In the 75th minute, junior Zach DeKock was able to score his first goal of the season off a pass from junior Fekadu Timmermans. This put the Trolls up 2-0 with 15 minutes left.
But Trinity wasn't done there. Four minutes later, Timmermans scored a goal of his own, securing the win for the Trolls in the 79th minute. The Trolls won against the Crimson Wave 3-0.
During this match, junior Mathis Muller was also able to record his second shutout of the season.
Now, the team is 2-2 in conference play and 5-5 overall.
The Trolls will be back in action again on Wednesday, Oct. 9, at Trinity International for another CCAC match.
